Pacific Coast Design were engaged by Villa Medica Co. Ltd. to Master Plan and design the 18 Hole Residential Golf Course In Khao Yai, Thailand which included Resort Hotel & Wellness / Spa facilities, Club facility for residents and visitors, Conference, meeting and function facilities, Eighteen Holes of International standard Golf, Corporate Conference Lodges and residential villas.
Landscape has built on the existing mountain and forest theme but will retain a simplicity emulated by other famous golf courses around the world. Large complex style bunkers are also a key feature of the golf course with some having vertical rock walls alongside the lakes and others with landscaped “Islands” within the actual bunkers.

Thai Links in the Mountains
I liked:
Efficient Staff, Greens and Fairways, Vistas, cool breeze.
When the 2nd 9 is open, assuming the same conditions, this will be a top destination for up the market golfer. Locker Room fixtures and fittings are 10/10.
The par 3 8th hole was 200yds blue-tee to centre-green pin, but taking into account the rise in elevation was playing 230 yds, over a drainage ditch and front of green bunker, onto a small green and into the wind, this could be the hardest par 3 in Thailand, if not SE Asia. (I will return to defeat this challenge)
Needs to improve:
Caddies spoke little English, (although my partner caddy did) accordingly, a Course Layout guide with yardages and OBs would make a significant difference.
Locker room facilities are good and bad - lockers for 60 and seating for 3.
Because there are no trees, there is no shade for respite from the sun, a few mature trees around the Tees would make a big difference along with at least one drinks stop or mobile drinks cart.
